1919 The maiden voyage John A. Macdonald's three-masted schooner Barbara MacDonald ends in tragedy. Battered by storms, her captain drowned, she crashes ashore at Cape Pine, Nfld. Somehow, owner and crew scale a 350-foot cliff, in a storm, in the dark, to reach safety.
