For decades, The Confederation Centre Art Gallery (CCAG) has been a venue for the discovery of marginalized historical narratives, providing valuable opportunities for Islanders to explore and enjoy arts that represent our human and natural heritage.
Some major accomplishments of CCAG in relation to the human heritage of Prince Edward Island include securing funding and sponsorship for the gathering and preparation of PEI artworks for public display, scholarly research, and the writing of books and publications for major retrospective exhibitions of Island visual artists. The CCAG team also actively engages in educational programming. They have hosted free community events, inviting Islanders and visitors to learn about our visual heritage while celebrating local artists.
These events attract diverse communities in our province, including newcomers and groups under-represented in traditional historical narratives. Additionally, CCAG's regular acquisition, collection, and conservation of artworks by PEI artists contribute to the preservation and display of historically significant PEI artworks.
For their dedication to local art history scholarship and education, and the collection, conservation and exhibition of Island artwork, the Confederation Centre Art Gallery (CCAG) is being honoured with the esteemed Award of Honor.
