The son of two high-school teachers, Kyle Timothy Blood was born in Skowhegan, Maine, and attended Dartmouth College, majoring in French and Art History. Upon graduation, he taught English as a second language under the Fulbright Teaching Assistantship program in a suburb of Paris. He then began a twenty-five-year career in New York City, working in journalism, advertising, public relations, publishing, marketing, packaging, branding, and product development at companies such as Forbes, Inc., and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. While in New York, he also attended the New York School of Interior Design and launched his own interior-design firm; today Kyle’s work includes projects in both the U.S. and in Canada.
In 2016 Kyle married Dean Perry, an acupuncturist and organist; the couple moved to Prince Edward Island full-time in 2018 with their two dogs. Having always been passionate about both the built and natural environment, Kyle became particularly interested in PEI heritage while renovating and decorating their William Critchlow Harris¬ “farm cottage” in Queens County. As a new citizen of Canada, he considers it a great honour to have been named to the PEI Museum & Heritage Foundation Board of Governors.
