For decades, the College of Piping has presented “Highland Storm”, a cherished production known for its captivating display of Celtic performing arts. Under the visionary direction of Peter Gallant, the show has undergone a remarkable transformation, weaving a narrative through music and dance that imagines the arrival of the first Scottish settlers to the Island in the late 1700s.
The reimagined “Highland Storm” captivates its audiences with displays of the Highland, step dancers, as well as melodies from the pipes, drums, and fiddle performances. Peter Gallant’s innovative interpretation not only pays homage to a crucial era in Prince Edward Island's history but also enriches its contemporary identity.
For his creative rendition of “Highland Storm”, Peter Gallant is honoured with a Wendell Boyle Performance Award.
