Provincial Realty has invested a great deal of money and time in the restoration and preservation of 49 Pownal Street, a beautiful example of Italianate-influenced architecture in the heart of Charlottetown.
Built in 1886 by wealthy Charlottetown entrepreneur Owen Connolly, the building at 49 Pownal has had many lives. It has served as a warehouse, the home of the PEI Fox Biscuit Company, the Fisherman's Union of PEI, and the Portland Packing Company.
More recently, it has served as an office building called Century Place, and the home of Provincial Realty, Prince Edward Island’s largest independent real estate broker.
Provincial Realty has worked with local historic groups to collect photos and original newspaper clippings to decorate the interior of the office. Thanks to the company’s hard work and investment, it has become a fine example of a well-done restoration.
